Our Mission

About Operation Next

Operation Next is a Department of Defense-funded and SkillBridge-approved program that provides military personnel, spouses, dependents and veterans* with FREE training in advanced manufacturing skills. Delivered through fast, flexible learning modules, this instruction puts trainees on strong career paths with opportunities to land high-paying, in-demand jobs nationwide.

Training available nationwide

Operation Next offers job skills training on bases and college campuses across the country. Each location offers instruction in different, highly sought-after skills, so see what courses are available in your area and reach out to the local team for more information.

Trainees have finished their programs in as little as three months, going on to land good-paying private sector jobs.

Operation Next is sponsored by LIFT, a Detroit-based nonprofit 501(c)3 public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of Defense, private industry and academia. LIFT is operated by the American Lightweight Materials Manufacturing Innovation Institute.

“Operation Next is creating an impact by preparing separating military personnel with the skills and competencies most needed by manufacturers. These jobs can put service members on a career path of advancement and growth.”
